EPISCOPAL DIOCESE OF EASTERN OREGON

About The Task Force

The Diocesan Council and Bishop recognize that the financial condition of the Diocese may not sustain current diocesan ministry models and because of the recent input from the congregations of this diocese we are committed to the mission and ministry of the people of eastern Oregon, we therefore appoint a task force, including the Bishop, to explore alternative models for mission and ministry.

Purpose:

  • Explore models of operation of the Diocese and develop recommendations for the implementation of alternative models.
  • Propose possible avenues to increase sources and funds for operations of the Diocese along with recommendations to reduce expenses for the operations.

Timeline:

  • The Task Force will give a progress report to Council and the people of the diocese monthly.
  • The Task Force will give a full progress report to Diocesan Convention in October of 2010.  Recommendations for action ideally could be a part of that reporting process.  If recommendations are not available by the time of Convention, the Task Force will have them prepared for the Council Retreat to be held in November of 2010.

Funding:

  • For the purpose to cover meeting expenses of travel, supplies, phone of members of the Task Force.
  • Source would be from Strategic Development Fund.

Miscellaneous:

  • The Task Force may recruit members as needed.

The Task Force may consult with diocesan and extra-diocesan personnel as needed.
